Dr. Kim Schrier Challenges Dino Rossi to Three General Election Debates

Issaquah, WA, August 23, 2018 – Dr. Kim Schrier has challenged Dino Rossi to three hour-long debates before the November election. Dr. Schrier’s challenge comes after Rossi has refused to hold a single public town hall and ignored every invitation to candidate forums or debates. If Rossi plans to ask for our votes, we deserve to hear from him directly. Dr. Schrier’s proposed debate schedule will give voters yet another chance to learn how she plans to stand up for our district in Congress, and to hear firsthand the stark contrasts between her and Mr. Rossi.

Dr. Schrier sent the below letter to Mr. Rossi today:

Mr. Rossi:

I have participated in 29 candidate forums and debates since launching my campaign last August. I am committed to continuing this record of openness and transparency as we move toward the general election. I got into this race after Dave Reichert refused to meet with constituents or hold public town halls, because we deserve better than an absentee career politician. We deserve a representative who will engage in thoughtful, open discussion of the key issues that keep families up at night.

To that end, I propose three debates to provide voters the opportunity to hear from both of us in public, unfiltered debates. These debates should take place in October throughout the district: one in King County, one in Pierce County, and one in Kittitas County. I plan to work with media outlets to ensure that these debates are broadcast on TV, online, or on the radio to reach the largest possible audiences.

Each debate should address the issues that matter most to 8th District voters. These include healthcare, trade and the economy, education, and women’s health. Voters deserve to hear firsthand the stark contrasts between you and I on critical issues.

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kim Schrier

Candidate for Congress (WA-08)
